I can't really explain why, but Laos has always been very high on my list of countries to visit. Fortunately, I was able to fulfill this wish in the summer of 2005: I did not leave dissappointed. There is something so special to be experienced in Luang Prabang that it can't be described but must be experienced. I have never felt more immediately comfortable and at peace upon landing in a new country/city; I actually noticed myself walking more slowly and imagined my heart beating at a slower rate pretty much as I got off the plane. Wonderful temples, a relative lack of tourist traffic and a welcoming, unhurried attitude made the only negative about my travels within Laos the fact that I had to leave.
