Cosplay With a Holga

I needed a break for a while, but I am now happy to be back.

This weekend saw another COStume PLAY (COSPLAY) event here in Taipei, so I decided to head over.  Having been to a few and made a couple of posts about them, I decided to do it a little differently this time.

Being a gearhead, something I have always liked about the cosplay events is seeing all the cool cameras and lenses that people are shooting with.  Rather than trying to compete at the expensive end, I decided to shoot with pretty much the lowest end camera available (though I did have my DSLR too).  Out came my Holga!

For those who don’t know it, it is hard to describe just how poorly made a Holga is.  Flimsy plastic everywhere (including the lens), lots of light leaks, no meter, not even any way to adjust exposure.  This is not designed for high end performance.

More after the break.

Cosplay – Fancy Frontiers 14

This weekend in Taipei included the Cosplay event Fancy Frontiers 14.  Cosplay, where people dress up like their favourite cartoon/graphic novel/manga characters is always a fun time and a great photographic opportunity.  Unfortunately though, this weekend the weather was against the event.  Yesterday included a huge rainstorm and when I went back today, it had rained, though it was more or less dry while I visited.  Not as many good shots as I would like, but it was a fun event.  Here are some quick results from the past two days.
